Symptoms of Alcohol Dependence Syndrome

Have you ever wondered what specific symptoms need to be present in order for someone to be dependent on alcohol....thus, to be considered an alcoholic?

Here are the main symptoms:

Withdrawal symptoms when reduced consumption

Reducing activities that are considered important due to drinking

Excessive time spent obtaining, consuming, or recovering from the effects of alcohol

Having a tolerance to alcohol and a diminished effect from it due to increased consumption

Continued drinking despite knowing that it is causing a physical or psychological problem

Persistence desire to drink alcohol and the inability to cut down on the amount

Drinking larger amounts of alcohol for longer time periods more so than what was intended
