“A cheerful heart is a good medicine.”Proverbs 17:22
Several years ago, I was leading my three daughters in a family devotion
time. I am a single mother and we were extremely financially strapped.
We took turns stating what we were
thankful for. One of my daughters said, “Lord, thank you for our peanut butter.”
It was the ONLY food in our home…… or so we thought. Another daughter said, “Oh that is gone.”

We did not have one bite
of food at all in our kitchen and we did not have two nickels to rub together.
Now while we were sad and scared because of our financial
situation and not being able to afford any food, we had a sense of humor.
One of us started to laugh and then the rest followed and we
laughed till we cried and almost fell out of our seats. Okay, to be honest in telling my story, one of my daughters did not find it humorous - which made us laugh harder!
We came very close, but never went without a meal. The Lord
always provided.
We were thankful. We had joy. We had faith.

We laughed and having a sense of humor helped us get through a difficult time.
Sometimes- having a sense of humor and laughing can help during stressful times.

a time to dance.” Ecclesiastes 3:4
