Painting- A Self- Care Hobby

I have wanted to go to a structured paint lesson for several years. I finally made it to one last night. I was surprised to find that it felt extremely therapeutic and relaxing! I highly recommend it! What is something that you have thought of that would be relaxing and a healthy coping skill for you to do to relax?

Depression Can Look Like...

Depression does not always look like we think it might look. Many people actually appear to be happier when they are the most depressed or right before they commit suicide. Take the time to engage with your loved ones. Talk to them. Listen to them. Be there for them. Hug them. If you Or someone you know is severely depressed, there is help. Seek professional counseling. There is always hope!

Healthy Drinks

Hello. I just want to share what I drank yesterday at work. First of all, I drank a smoothie that was loaded with fresh organic fruit and vegetables. Then I drank a probiotic drink called kevita that is a Kombucha drink. It is a fermented tea that is good for gut health. Then I drank water that was infused with lemons, oranges and blueberries. Lastly, I drank vegetable juice that I juiced myself yesterday morning! I juiced carrots, celery and lemon! It is very important to hydrate all day long and it is especially important to drink nutritious drinks along with water!

Some people think that they don’t have time to meditate or that they don’t know how to meditate. All you have to do is change your focus of your thoughts. If you’ve ever worried in your life, you know how to focus on thoughts. You can turn that worry around and choose to focus on positive thoughts.

Be Okay With Not Being Okay

It is Okay tonight be Okay.

Allow yourself to feel how you are genuinely feeling.

You have to feel before you can heal.

You have to be real before you can heal.

It is Okay to be in a season in your life of not doing well. Just remember, that it is a season.

Do the best you can with where you are and with what you have. Take one day at a time.

Do what is in your control to do and give the rest to God- and leave it there with Him. All the while- allowing yourself to be real with how you are really feeling.

Progress, Not Perfection

When we strive for perfection, we can easily disappoint.

When we strive for progress, we can create and work toward realistic goals.

Think progress, not perfection.

Listen To Understand- Not To React

When somebody talks to you, do you listen attentively?

Do you find yourself only thinking about how you want to reply?

Do you listen to understand or do you listen to react?

Try being a more attentive listener. Listen to understand. Listen to acknowledge the other person‘s feelings. Listen to paraphrase back what you heard. Listen to validate the other person. Respond with love and respect. Listen because you care.

Try holding your reaction back and placing it on the shelf temporarily.

Wait until an appropriate time if you need to respond relating your feelings.

Then when you respond, use I statements and talk with respect.

If you or someone you know is suicidal,
please contact the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at:
