Everyone gets
down in the dumps from time to time. However, for some people it is difficult for
them to pick themselves backup. Also, some people have a chemical imbalance in their brain.
Some symptoms
for depression are the following:
Anxiety and panic

hopeless and helpless
Being is a
depressed mood for long or frequent period
Loss of
concentration
Fatigue and
loss of energy
Feeling sad
Feeling worthless
Diminished interest
in activities

There is help for depression. Talking
to a counselor can be helpful. There are treatment options that include psychotherapy
(counseling and education by a professional mental health provider) and psychotropic medication.

Sunshine and fresh air
Exercise
Change of scenery
Positive self – talk
Positive affirmations
Eating healthy
Journaling
Talking to a trusted friend
Drinking plenty of water
Forcing yourself to get
up, dress up and get out of the house- even if it is to walk around your yard
Explore your passions and
pursue your interests
I cannot stress enough how
much exercise helps depression- especially brisk walking outside!
Regular exercise helps ease depression
in several ways. It releases feel-good brain chemicals that may ease
depression which are neurotransmitters,
endorphins and endocannabinoids.

When you are feeling down, overwhelmed, and/ or feeling anxious with panic and anxiety, it helps to have someone to talk to.
I am leading support groups/ classes in July and August to help individuals with these symptoms.
Groups/ Classes are FREE, however; you need to register.

Diane received her Master of Science Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Walden University with a specialization in Trauma and Crisis Counseling.
Diane is under the clinical supervision of Michael Loftis L.C.S.W. as she pursues professional licensure as a LPC-MHSP.
Diane is also currently pursuing her PhD in Psychology.
