Be Okay With Not Being Okay

It is Okay tonight be Okay.

Allow yourself to feel how you are genuinely feeling.

You have to feel before you can heal.

You have to be real before you can heal.

It is Okay to be in a season in your life of not doing well. Just remember, that it is a season.

Do the best you can with where you are and with what you have. Take one day at a time.

Do what is in your control to do and give the rest to God- and leave it there with Him. All the while- allowing yourself to be real with how you are really feeling.

Progress, Not Perfection

When we strive for perfection, we can easily disappoint.

When we strive for progress, we can create and work toward realistic goals.

Think progress, not perfection.

Listen To Understand- Not To React

When somebody talks to you, do you listen attentively?

Do you find yourself only thinking about how you want to reply?

Do you listen to understand or do you listen to react?

Try being a more attentive listener. Listen to understand. Listen to acknowledge the other person‘s feelings. Listen to paraphrase back what you heard. Listen to validate the other person. Respond with love and respect. Listen because you care.

Try holding your reaction back and placing it on the shelf temporarily.

Wait until an appropriate time if you need to respond relating your feelings.

Then when you respond, use I statements and talk with respect.

If you or someone you know is suicidal,

Thankful But Feeling Sad and All Alone?

I know that with Thanksgiving approaching that it can be a very sad and isolating time for many. It does not mean that you are not thankful for the blessings in your life. Just know that you can be thankful and sad/ depressed at the same time. People in your life may not understand and that is okay. Allow yourself to feel what you feel. Do what you need to do to get through the holiday. Know that it is normal for a lot of people to have a difficult time with the holidays approaching. Seek support, increase coping skills  and be easy on yourself. Also, know that God loves you with an ever lasting love and you are forever his child.

If you or someone you know is suicidal and needs immediate attention, call 911, go to your nearest hospital emergency room, or contact the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at:
800-273-TALK (8255) or Text: HOME to 741741.

Depression - It Can Feel Lonely

Depression can make you feel all kinds of ways. One way that depression can make you feel is very lonely. Someone who is depressed and/or has anxiety can feel alone even in a room full of people. They can also feel lonely even in a group of people. Depression can feel very isolating in so many ways.

While it is very healthy to enjoy your own company alone, being social is also very healthy. However, it’s very difficult to be friendly when you are depressed. It is best to try to be social but to also give yourself grace and stay home if you really feel you need to do so. Just make sure that you try to be social soon after. Try to start out small with a short time frame or with maybe a small group of people.

- And there is always hope for depression, anxiety and social anxiety. Seek help and don’t ever give up!

If you or someone you know is suicidal and needs immediate attention, call 911, go to your nearest hospital emergency room, or contact the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at:
800-273-TALK (8255) or Text: HOME to 741741.
